It’s time for #BIMtees1714 Jun 2017 | Written by Karen Crowe
It’s an exciting time here at the moment …….a huge amount of effort has been expended over recent weeks by John Adams and the team at our digital sister, BIM Strategy, as they prepare for the inaugural #BIMtees17 event, to be held at Business Central in Darlington tomorrow.
This is the first BIM event for the construction industry in the Tees Valley region, the significance of which has resulted in attracting some high profile supporters. Entitled ‘BIM: why and how?’ the event will focus on the BIM Level 2 Mandate as it shifts from theory to reality. John, who, in his capacity as Director of BIM Strategy is hosting the event, will be sharing his experience in an engaging and pragmatic presentation, using case studies and examples to break BIM down into ‘real world’ applications. Attendees are drawn from amongst the property, construction and legal sectors from the North East.
One of the great things about the event is that it is being held in Darlington and not the usual places like London, not Birmingham, not even Newcastle. It’s very easy to forget there is a construction industry outside of the big cities. Both Niven and BIM Strategy are passionate about the town we work in, and we work with excellent local project partners from across the Tees Valley delivering high-quality projects that often go under the radar.
A few years ago there were at least a couple of BIM events each week. With the exception of the all-out BIM bonanza that is BIM Show Live that vibe has fizzled out a little. Sadly, it would be wrong to say this was because most of the industry has upskilled to Level 2 across the board! BIM Strategy decided to see if it’s possible to recreate the knowledge sharing vibe and get BIM moving again. Fortunately, the reaction (and take up of places) has been very encouraging.
