MCIS project submitted for Planning
Niven has been working recently with MC Ionic Solutions UK - part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation - to help expand their production/supply chain capacity for one of their products which has seen a significant rise in demand.
The Phase 1 brief requires the design of office and welfare spaces, an analytical laboratory, clean rooms, prep room and chemical store together with a large area for chemical storage. An important requirement is that the design is able to facilitate future expansion including infrastructure, SUDS drainage and logistics.
The project has a number of challenges; the need for minimal disruption to complex industrial, chemical and processing operations as well as the site’s close proximity to both the Teesmouth & Cleveland Coast Special Protection Area and Billingham Beck Wildlife Site have all had to be carefully considered throughout the design process.
A final design - capable of satisfying all the client’s requirements whilst ensuring the current demand manufacturing and processing requirements can be incorporated into the existing site - was submitted for Planning in late September.
A decision on the outcome is due in January 2019.
