MCIS project submitted for Planning
We have recently been working with MC Ionic Solutions UK - part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation - to help them expand their production/supply chain capacity for one of their products, which has seen a significant rise in demand.
The Phase 1 brief requires the design of office and welfare spaces, an analytical laboratory, clean rooms, prep room and chemical store together with a large area for chemical storage. An important requirement is that the design is able to facilitate future expansion including infrastructure, SUDS drainage and trafficking routes.
The project has a number of challenges; the need for minimal disruption to complex industrial, chemical and processing operations as well as the site’s close proximity to both the Teesmouth & Cleveland Coast Special Protection Area and Billingham Beck Wildlife Site have both had to be carefully considered throughout the design process.
A final design, capable of satisfying all the client’s requirements whilst ensuring the current demand manufacturing and processing requirements can be incorporated into the existing site, was submitted for Planning in late September.
A decision on the outcome is due in January 2019.
