Great things have small beginnings26 Jan 2018 | Written by Karen Crowe
From its humble beginnings as two small modest semi-detached arts and crafts style cottages, Niven and WB Construction have created a stunning single residential property for Raby Estates.
It’s easy to forget all the hard work that went into a project when you are standing in the finished space. The building was desperately in need of some ‘TLC’ when we first visited in February 2017 and the proposed solution required a substantial amount of demolition both in terms of walls and floors, much of which was substandard. The works have transformed the interior into a cosy yet spacious family home with larger living spaces that flow through the building. The removal of the coal stores at the rear and the installation of a hardwood framed glazed screen to the garden has brought natural light into the heart of the house and given a visual link to the surrounding landscape.
The project was completed on budget and within nine months from inception to completion.
