Once Darlington’s leading hotel, Blackwell Grange is well on its way to returning to its former glory. During the first quarter of 2018, a team of consultants and contractors, led by Niven, has breathed new life into its main function rooms, front of house spaces and external environment. Building on our established relationship with Simon Bartlett Interiors, the refurbishment has brought back classic style and opulence to the Grade II listed property whilst still retaining its character.
The Bruhenny Suite, which sits within the heart of the hotel, has been transformed from dark and dated to light, glamorous and appealing with the introduction of rooflights, wall panelling and a total refit of the Hidden Bar that now has the appeal of a fine dining establishment.
The Reception and the adjacent Blackwell Lounge and Elk Room uses more muted tones and traditional materials – leather, dark wood and brass – to create an elegant, timeless look. These lead through to the new Blackwell Bar with its mirrors and brass fittings is flooded with natural light from the south terrace and provides wonderful views of the garden and new gazebo.
The new owners are extremely pleased with the transformation which has been achieved in an incredibly short time and are looking forward to working with the same team when Phase 2 begins in January 2019.
