Niven Architects - Botton Village.jpg

Niven has worked with Camphill Village Trust (CVT) for several years during which time we have helped to deliver a number of highly successful projects, including the award winning Daffodil House in Hemlington.

Botton Village is a self-sufficient community in the North York Moors and home to over 200 residents with varying levels of complex learning disabilities. Many of the residents play an integral part in growing, harvesting and creating a multitude of food produce as well as producing handicrafts from wood, glass and fabric. CVT is keen to promote a wider audience for these as well as a greater understanding of the Trust and we have worked together on several projects to achieve this.

The aims of this project are therefore to help reinvigorate the Village Store by remodelling and extending it whilst creating greater access via a dedicated car park, subtly integrated into the landscape. In addition, a long-term masterplan involving new workshops and CVT information centre has also been developed, necessitating extensive collaboration with the Trust, the residents and the local Planning Authority.
