Redcar and Cleveland’s Higher Education and Conference Centre was designed to expand and complement the existing campus as well as facilitate the delivery of a range of degree courses in Partnership with Teesside University
The two storey glazed roof atrium area provides access at ground floor level to a teaching wing which houses tutorial rooms, offices, electrical workshop and an engineering science laboratory. Further tutorial rooms, an HE Suite, incorporating a chill-out area, Resource Centre and ICT Suite are accessed via spine corridors on the first floor.
The £2.6M Centre also incorporates a 250 seat lecture/function hall with a retractable seating system which provides a large flexible open plan space suitable for a variety of purposes such as exams, theatre/music productions and college ceremonies.
The project was designed, built and opened within a single academic year and was ready for its first intake of students in time for the start of the new academic year.
